Shaw Lanes – Shaw Air Force Base

Last week was the Final to the 2013 Bowling Base Championship. The Base Championship tournament was a field of the top 8 teams from our Extramural bowling season that started September 2012. After qualifying for the Championship tournament the top 8 teams go into a double elimination handicap tournament to determine the winner. As usual it was a tough battle to win the tournament. There is a lot of pride associated with winning this prestigious tournament where you represent your squadron. The top 8 teams were CMS, AMXS B, FSS, LRS, AFCENT A-6, AMXS A, AFCENT FM and Com. After three days of bowling 6 games a day it came down to two teams AFCENT A-6 in the winner’s bracket and LRS coming up from the loser’s bracket. It was a well fought match in which AFCENT A-6 won the championship trophy. Congratulations to AFCENT A-6 on winning the Bowling championship in back to back years and congratulations to LRS the runner-up team.

The blind draw Spring Kick Off tournament at Carolina Lakes Golf Course attracted 84 of local golfers shooting for the hole-in-one challenge and bragging rights. Two teams tied at the end of the day with a final score of 29 under and a scorecard playoff decided the winning group. If you missed this great event, the next open tournament will be April 19th. Thirteen local groups graced the Carolina Skies Club and Conference Center stage Friday night with songs of faith and devotion. Among the performing groups were the Sheriff's Gospel Choir, Team Shaw Choirs, Morris College Gospel Choir, Jehovah Babtist Church, and many others. The audience members enjoyed the show with one member commenting via the 20th FSS App (available in the iTunes and Google Play Stores), "If you weren't there...you missed a GREAT time!"
