ADVENTURE CAMP

Adventure Camps for Military teens (14-18 years old) are scheduled April 2011 through April 2012. These high energy, high adventure and high experience camps are planned across the UnitedStates from Alaska to Maine and from Colorado to Georgia as well as states in between. THE YOUTH CENTER ANNEX is used for ages 9 (4th grade) to 18 (senior), and is located in the 5000 housing area. The Annex includes a recreation area, computer lab, 2 multi-purpose areas, and an outdoor basketball court.

TWEEN PROGRAM
Tween (ages 9-12) time at the Annex is offered Mon thru Fri from 2:30 to 5 p.m., and Sat. from 1 to 5 p.m. Tweens have run of the center during this time to play pool, Ping-Pong, use the computers, and much more. This is also when Power Hour and Torch Club is offered. Tween lockin’s are scheduled throughout the year. During the lock-ins, tweens can enjoy a night of activities such as bowling, skating, movies, pizza, talent contest and much more. We also offer various programs throughout the month. Tween dances are another example of the special events we provide for our preteens. There is a $25 annual membership fee.

TEEN PROGRAM
Shaw Youth Programs, in conjunction with the Boys and Girls Club of America, was awarded a Taco Bell Teen Supreme Grant to help support the teens of Shaw AFB. Teen time is offered Mon.- Thurs. 5- 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday 5-9 p.m. Teen center membership is $25 annually. The membership allows you into the club and discounts on some of the teen’s trips and events. The nightly program offers a variety of self-directed activities such as pool, ping-pong, board games and much more. Planned activities might include Power Hour study time, cooking class, arts and crafts, photography, job ready, and more. Special events are scheduled on Saturday nights such as Lock-ins, dances, basketball tournaments, bowling and more.

  • Clubs and Programs
4-H: A community of young people across America who are learning leadership, citizenship and life skills. Meetings are held Thursdays at 4 p.m.
KEYSTONE CLUB: a leadership based program for teens 14 to 18 designed to help adolescents become more productive citizens and leaders. The club meets adolescents’ vitally important needs for a positive group experience and gives young people the chance to learn
the importance of giving back to their community through volunteering.
T.R.A.I.L: (Training Responsible Adolescents in Leadership) an outdoor recreation program for teens 12 to 18. The teens learn how to plan, conduct and schedule these programs as they learn valuable
communication and leadership skills, make new friends, and have a blast.
Y.E.S: Youth Employment Skills Program is an on-base volunteer program for high school students to “bank” dollars towards their college education. Teens can learn valuable work skills and earn up to $1,000.00 for college.
CAP: A challenge! Offers young people a personal goal to set and achieve.
FitFactor: Fitness program for youth and teens that is committed to the well-being of families. Participants enroll and log points for activities they do. The Youth Annex plans various FitFactor activities throughout the month encouraging youth to Get Up, Get Out, and Get Fit!
